Jiang: Reporter should Make Friend with Interviewee

The experienced reporter, Ms Susie Jiang stated that reporter should build a friendly relationship with their interviewee in order to gain the first-handed news yesterday in the seminar of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

Jiang was once an experienced reporter in reporting international news and now is the President of the CS Culture Foundation.

Jiang purposed that she was proud of herself as a reporter since the reporter can gain the first-handed news sources and report the truth to the public.

She emphasized that the professional reporter should have the responsibility to protect the rights of the source provider.

“A good reporter should keep his or her promise and try hard in protecting the rights of the sources provider since it is important to maintain the first hand-handed news sources.” Said Jiang. Jiang shared her experiences which she reported after the Tiananmen Square Protest in 4th June, 1989. She traced a student leader, Ling Chai ’s way to Paris in order to get the first-handed news of Chai.

“The time when Chai was on her way to Paris, she was feeling unwell. Therefore, I declared myself as a nurse to get her trust and help taking care of her on the plane. I developed a closed relationship with her and gain the first-handed news about her. It shows that reporters should firstly make friends with the interviewee, in order to gain the first-handed news from them.” Jiang said
