People will doubt that if a broadcasting media is under control of government, it will be controlled by the government. The chief executive committee of Teledifusão de Macau (TDM) said: “The government of Macau doesn’t give opinion to TDM.”

“TDM was once a broadcasting media owned by a private organization, but owing to the huge loss in money, TDM have been taken over by the government of Macau,” said Leong. He said this is the road of TDM.

“Many merchants invested into TDM since the broadcasting of smoking advertisement in Hong Kong was illegal, so they decided to broadcast it in Macau, who have chosen TDM,” Leong said. But then the merchants found that citizens in Macau like watching the channels from Hong Kong and the signal could not pass through Lantau Island. So this idea was finally broken and then the merchants all left.

Leong said that although the government is the main stockholders of TDM, the government never assigns TDM to broadcast any type of programs or give any opinion to any program. TDM remains neutral.
