An internationally renowned designer said that he doesn't agree with Apple Daily's reporting style.

"We should not be grandstand when reporting," Kan Tai-keung, also the consultant of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, said on Tuesday at a university assembly. He noted that he initially expected Apple Daily to produce some well-designed news editing, because Apple Daily had lots of talented employees. However, Kan pointed out that Apple Daily loses the news culture and just cares about sales.

"News reporting needs to respect people," Kan said. He noted that lots disaster reporting is too sensational, and sometimes those news pictures may recall victims' painful memories. Kan added that as a kind of mass communication, media should have good character, which can educate public through their works.

Kan was born in China in 1942. In 1979, he was first designer elected as the "Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons", also was the first Chinese included in "Who's Who in Graphic Design" in 1995. Kan is now actively involved in promoting and educating design profession and art. He is now the dean of the Cheung Kong School of Art and Design and the guest professor of Tsing Hua University of Fine Arts.--115035 2014年4月15日 (二) 18:21 (UTC)
