While Coronavirus virus(COVID-19)spread rapidly in South Korea and over 8600 people were confirmed case were infected, a Korean biotech company invested how to measure the new virus by artificial intelligence (AI).

Reported by Cherry Tsang, 19th March

The bad news of coronavirus caught South Korea’s government completely off guard. Luckily, Seegene, a Korean biotech company developed the test kit for diagnosing coronavirus under three weeks, which reduce the spreading speed of the disease by cutting down the chain propagation.

With the quick reflexes on coronavirus virus , Lee dae-hoon, the executive director of Seegene responded, they were already working on coronavirus hearing the news from china , which mean they started working nearly 2 months before the first confirmed case found in South Korea. Both Seegene founder and CEO Chun jong-yoon respond, "when we started, we did not expect either this kind of the pandemic outbreak to happen in Korea and nobody expected at all." Rather make hay while the sun shines and start to invent test kit before risk happen, it is the way of how Seegene fight against with coronavirus virus.

While South Korea’s coronavirus virus confirmed cases suddenly bumped up in the beginning of March, he said the team of scientists and molecular microbiologists got more pressure than usual, "yah, because it's an emergency case rapidly spreading the coronavirus into our countries."

The test kit has already tested by more than 220,000 people in South Korea, which only contained a teardrop worth of solution, then could tests on 100 patients for coronavirus by using AI in just four hours.

Without having a physical sample of the coronavirus virus, the scientists highlighted 3 specific genes by the genetic blueprint of the coronavirus virus, which distributed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and health officials in China.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak quickly spreads across the world, the demands of test kit increased. Noh si-won, executive director of corporate strategy at Seegene described as “Crazy demands” from domestic market and overseas market. Therefore, the workload of Seegene got heavier, especially the assembly line.
