Speaking at a talk in Hong Kong Shue Yan University, its Associate Professor of the Journalism and Mass Communication, Wong Chung Ming believed Han Kuo Yu who just won the election competing for the mayor of Kaohsiung would not participate in the 2020 Taiwan President election and the current Taiwan President, Tsai Ing Wen could no longer be the next President in 2020.

Election of the mayor in Taipei ended. All candidates had spent much time and efforts to promoting their belief and getting public support. Kuomintang had won the election in most cities and hence the President of the Democratic Progressive Party, Tsai Ing Wen resigned from her post in the party. Some described this election as a losing match to the Kuomintang.

Han Kuo Yu might participate in the 2020 Taiwan President Election, some scholars said. However, Wong thought it would not possibly happen. “Since Han just rises, it is not reasonable of a person working as a mayor of Kaohsiung for two years to run for presidency.” Wong said. He believed the mayor of New Taipei City, Chu Li Lun from Kuomintang had a higher possibility of running for presidency in 2020.

“Tsai Ing Wen will not be re-elected again.” Wong said. He thought there was still uncertainty about who would be the next president. As Tsai persuaded the President of Executive Yuan, Lai Ching Te to stay, he said that Lai might be the representative of Democratic Progressive Party to join the next presidency election.
