Lau: “Hong Kong garden” is not impossible

By Cheung Yik

Lau Ming-wai, vice chairman of Bauhinia Foundation Research Center, said a "Hong Kong Garden" may not be feasible, but require a large-scale program.

Lau believed that developing "Hong Kong Garden" was not impossible. The medical culture of Pan-Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong was very different, Hong Kong people were hard to adapt local life. Large-scale plans and policies are needed for implementation.

He thought that providing “Hong Kong like” services in China help solving local problems, such as limited land, high population and high commodity prices. He said using "sensitive" as the reason of not discussing the topic was a waste to the project.

Guangzhou Nansha Development Plan was revealed as "Hong Kong Garden". It was reported that the Government intended to reallocate the local grass-roots people to mainland China, though the government has denied.
