Joseph Lau's 33-year-old son Lau Ming-Wai took over as chairman of the tycoon at the helm of Chinese Estates Holdings Ltd and acting chief executive last week. Lau Ming-wai refused to answer the questions about taking over his father’s post in a university assembly today.

Joseph Lau was found guilty on Friday by a Macau court on charges of bribery and money laundering linked to a land deal in the world's gambling capital. In the beginning of the assembly, Lau Ming-wai took the initiative to refuse to answer any questions about this issue.

When asked by whether his company will do research on general election in 2017 in Hong Kong, he said it may not necessary to do research on it, it is better to do research on the usage of resources in Hong Kong.
