Unauthorized structures in Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying's apartment has nothing to do with his integrity and the issue was mistaken too seriously by the general public, said Law Fan Chiu-fun, member of Executive Council yesterday.

Law admits in a talk with Shue Yan University students that every citizen possess freedom and rights to interpret the case differently; however there is also an undeniable fact that illegal building works in residential estates have been very common in Hong Kong, she reminds the public to put themselves in Leung's shoes and try to recall two of the important core-values of SAR - tolerance and respect.

'Of course, it's up to the public's choice to whether or not believe in what Leung said in his declaration, but I can see the fact that Leung had already tried his best to explain himself,' said Law.

During the Q&A session, one of the students from Shue Yan accused Leung of his dishonesty for hiding the truth; Law rebutted the student for not reading over the whole piece of Leung's statement before illustrating her conclusion.

'Reaction and comments made by the public should be based on existing facts and knowledge, rather than to comment like it's for granted; only opinions made with full objectiveness would be given with rooms for acceptance and discussion,' said Law.
