Lawrence Pang, former Member of the Standing Committee of HKU Convocation stressed that he hope the parties can calm down first, and then to communicate. He believes that due to the values of the parties are different, so the need to solve the problem through negotiations, to discuss the use of communication to achieve the same starting point in the event. Peng reiterated its absolute respect for academic freedom, self-determination to defend the institutions. He believes that the impact of Hong Kong Students School Board meeting is due to misunderstanding, communication or help to resolve their differences.

Peng said that no one said Johannes Chan will become vice president, but media rumors only. Peng of Hong Kong regardless of the election and reiterated that any person becomes a member, are the people of Hong Kong can benefit in mind as a basic principle, its political position is not concern.

Peng expressed HKU ranking down is a normal phenomenon, not because of Hong Kong professor and student’s political position or vice president academic appointment storm, it was all because of the extremes as HKU always is beyond the other institutions. He believes that HKUST has become the first in Hong Kong, because they have money to hire the best professors. He pointed out that HKU ranking dropped now so there will be the target for a higher ranking, and there are competitors before progress.
