“Nowadays, Internet becomes the most important media. The dissemination of information is more easier than before,” said Chau Yick, former deputy general manager of Wen Wei Po, during his speech in Shue Yan University on Tuesday. “The left wing newspaper has already lost its original value. They should be closed down,”

Hong Kong Wen Wei Po was founded in 1948. It is one of the historic left wing newspaper. Chau played an important role to run the newspaper. “I haven’t read Wen Wei Po for more than ten years after my retirement,” said Chau.

In fact, there are less and less people reading the left wing newspaper. The capital is all come from the China Government. The managers are all mainland people who speaks Putonghua instead of Cantonese. “Left wing newspaper has fallen out of luster,” said Chau.
