The copyright law would be amended soon after the approval of Legislative Council (in-omit) next month. Once it came through, the creative products of internet users would undoubedly be restricted. Geordie Toh, a legal advisor of web-based coperation, hoped that the government could take the big picture into consideration and work for the benefits of every side(s), in an assembly of Hong Kong Shue Yan University on April, 24.

People regard the amended copyright law as the "Article 23 for the internet". It is because the law could act as a tool to restrict the freedom when accessing (on) the internet. Users could not share any first-hand material on their social network even (x) the author did not mind as it would become a criminal law.

Geordie Toh thought that the law would suppress the creativity of web users. Their "re-creation" of lyrics, photos and videos would be prohibited.

" Some edited products have shown the creativity of web users, some may also benefit the original author as more people would know the original product," said Toh.

He believed that the copyright holder would also disagree the amendment because of their rights would also be affected.
