Jasper Tsang Yok-sing said today, that the Chinese government had made a wrong decision in the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, claiming that crushing any student movement is defiantly a mistake.

The LegCo President also stated that he has his own way to commemorate the incident, rather than attending activities organized by the local pan-democracy camp. He believed that going to these activities is not the sole way to show that he remembers the protests.

China was developing towards a right direction in recent years, rather than switching back to a closed-door policy like the one during the Culture Revolution. This is another the reason why he refuse to attends the public commemorate activities, he explained.

The former Executive Council member also hoped the Financial Secretary can suggest more measures in the coming budget, to help the citizens to cope with the recent financial meltdown. Tsang also stated the government has enough money to support these measures, so government debt is not an effective option.

Tsang insisted that he will keep his promise in action, that not to take sides and to remain impartial inside the chamber. He said that actually no fellow legislator had complained about his judgments since he has chaired the council. He also reaffirmed that he would make every judgment and decision according to the Rule of Procedure of the Council.

The senior DAB politician criticized the local media, saying that the reporters always simplifying the current issue, reporting in a wrong angel, and not caring about the feeling of public figures. He remembered some media reports about him, caused some huge public anger towards him, which nagged people around him and him, a lot.
