By Jacob Lo
New free-to-air TV broadcast channel will stir up tense competition between the existing channels like TVB and ATV. The low quality TV programs would be hopefully improved due to the competition, Former Managing Director of CBS Broadcast International Asia Inc., Ho Yuet Fung said. (good opening)
It is said that the problem of copying idea and story is serious in Hong Kong TV programs. Ho said that this was not unusual in the past. However, due to the rapid development of the Internet, () copycat (is?) easily found and spread by the audience. Ho criticized the program producers should pay more afford on producing creative plots and sets.
Ho is glad to see the inspiring production of the recent TVB drama When Heaven Burns. She encouraged(whom?) to produce more new kinds of programs to attract teenage audiences. However, she criticized that it was inappropriate to show the story of (eating human-use one word) in prime time because children might feel shock() and scared.
Ho suggested that the election of CE in Hong Kong is an interesting topic to shoot a movie, like the recent movie The Ides of March directed by George Clooney.
