Liaison Office of Central People’s Government: Universal Suffrage should run in Progressive Step

The Liaison Office of Central People’s Government reaffirmed that there are not a time table for universal suffrage in Hong Kong. The Chief Assistant of the Liaison Office of Central People’s Government, Wang Ru Deng reaffirmed that the universal suffrage should be run in a progressive step yesterday.


“The universal suffrage should be run under the guide of the basic law, also the universal suffrage need to have a generally discuss and common consensus in the society, it is an important factor for the universal suffrage in Hong Kong.” said Wang on the seminar of Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday.


Wang reaffirmed the universal suffrage of Hong Kong should have a prerequisite of careful planning and progressive steps.


The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government of the HKSAR is the representative branch of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong. The main function of the office is to communicate between the SAR government and the Central Government, and the office response on sending message of the Central Government. The Liaison Office was rename on 2000, the original title of the office was the XinHua News Agency (Hong Kong Branch), which was established in 1947.
