In recent days, some banned information such as 1989 incident at Tiananmen Square can be searched on the internet in the Mainland China. David Schlesinger, the chairman of Thomson Reuters China, said in the assembly of Hong Kong Shue Yan University on March, 27 that the degree of freedom of speech and press was increasing in China but journalist should still care about their safety when reporting news (of-in) China. (good opening)

Mainland citizens c(ould-an) also visit some banned website such as Youtube today. This symbolized that the era of " closed internet " in Mainland China has (been-omit) passed.

Schlesinger noted that every newspaper should only quote the news written by Xinhua News Agency when he worked in the Mainland China in 1990s.

" (The is the?) post-period of Tiananmen incident , every news agencies were under restriction," said Schlesinger.

He thought that everything has been changed after 2000 (if you use has been changed, it implies you will specify agent of change, or kind of change, if not use has changed). Media can make some bold coverage under various restriction.

However, Schlesinger remind the journalism students still need to be careful when they reported sensitive news.

"You should tell the truth, be accurac(y? adj, should be noun form) and also protect your source. Otherwise, what you will face is imprisonment," said Schlesinger. --095074 2012年3月27日 (二) 23:15 (UTC)
