Being fair and objective were the most essential factors for the future development of the news and media industries, Loh Chan who was the CEO of Digital Broadcasting Corporation (DBC) said yesterday in an university talk.

Because Wong Cho Bau, the single largest shareholder, was one of the Nation commissars of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, people have expressed concerned that his political identity may affect the editorial autonomy of DBC. Loh Chan emphasized that being fair and objective were the most essential factors for DBC News's future development and this point was also agreed by Wong.

"We don’t want to be another Takungpao" said by Loh. He continued that analysis current issues objectively and reporting news in a fair way were the only two things a media should do. And he believed that DBC can do both things well and be political neutral.

The sound broadcasting license of DBC was released by the Communication Authority at March, 2012 and the broadcasting originally planned to start at September, 2012. However, the broadcasting channels were stopped because of the disputes between shareholders. Until September of 2013, the Communication Authority approved the DBC's application of the changes in equity and Wong Cho Bau became the single largest shareholder, his stake increased to 99.6%.

He also disclosed that Wong Cho Bau did not join the Directors Board of DBC in order to avoid the arousing suspicion.
