Loh Chan: Elderly market hasn't been mined – by Andrew Yeung

Loh Chan, the CEO of Digital Broadcasting Corporation, said in the future development

of social multimedia, content is king.

Loh noticed, “There is not a single radio channel designed for the elderly in Hong

Kong.” He said they would make good use of one channel out of seven, and launch a

channel specially designed for retired audience or elderly. He wished the channel

could enrich their retirement lives and help them to adopt the tremendous changes.

He emphasized, they were now working with non-governmental organizations, so as to

share the cost of the digital radio receivers. He said he wished they could come

to an agreement that it won’t cost the elderly a penny for a digital radio receiver.

Loh also said, they could continue the installation of digital radio receivers on

taxi in last 2013. They mentioned that their ultimate target was having 400000 digital

radio receivers circulating. He pointed out, “by then, the amount of audience could

provide a huge sum of advertisement incomes. Those incomes would give no doubt in

sustaining the development of DBC.”
