Loh Chan, the C.E.O. of D.B.C. (Digital Broadcasting Corporation), believed that digital broadcasting is in an advantageous position to one day replace traditional radio, pointing to America where digital radio is already popular.

Loh said, the habitat of media industry shows a trend that digital broadcasting would become more and more popular. He firstly pointed out that till now, there are already over two hundred thousand digital radios circulating through the market, and he predicted the trend would go on. "You can take the result of an American survey as a reference." Loh said. "The result shows the condition of where people get news. As time passes, fewer and fewer people get news from most of the medias such as TV, newspaper and radios." He said, only the online and mobile news performed an increasing trend in the diagram.

Loh said that DBC is deciding to create more channels for the elderly, like the Chinese opera channel they have now. He indicated that the elder population will grow really fast; even in the future, most probably one out of four people would be an elderly. He said, DBC decided to attract this big market by opening channels for them. Besides, he said they are also planning to cooperate with some elderly organization in order to do distribution. “Maybe providing free digital radios for them.” He said.
