Telling Joke is easy but hard for a laughable one

Li James Tuesday,28 February,2012

“Jokes come from truth; truth is the point to laugh,” said Lai Man Cheuk, one of the famous media specialists in the town.

Lai Man Cheuk first job was a joke writer of the famous show- ‘Enjoy Yourself Tonight’. The job duty was to write five jokes per day which means 1200 per year. It went on for seven years. Lai pointed out the job is quite difficult after a period of time as the creativity of a man is limited (good!).

However, the years of being a joke writer trained Lai to be so creative and always full of ideas. The ideas can help people to illustrate different views. For example, if someone is short, it is better to say that he/she has a normal height. This is the logic of choosing good things to say which provides the public a different feeling.

“The difference between the truth and the fake inside the jokes lead to laughter,” said Lai. Lai concluded his experience of making jokes is planning well. First, you need to create some elements of suspense to attract your audience. Next step is to provide a wrong answer to mislead your audience. Finally, you tell the truth to the audience. The deviation between the misleading answer and the truth decides the response from the audience.--095090 2012年2月28日 (二) 23:19 (UTC)
