Maternity leave law for men is not carried out in every country. Take the U.S as an example; US law allows men to take 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave. In Hong Kong, some pressure groups suggest maternity leave for men. The secretary of Department of Labour and Welfare shared his view about the feasibility of implenment of maternity leave for men.

Cheung Kin Chung, is known as the secretary for Labour and Welfare in the Hong Kong Government. He worked in Hong Kong government over 30 years, served in different government departments including Home Affairs, Education and Manpower, Economic Development and Labour. But he actually worked in journalism field, such as BBC and Daily Mail. He shared his experience with the students of Hong Kong Shue Yan University today. He said," communication is vital for everyone. The media has positive influences on Hong Kong residents and it helps Hong Kong to become a more open society."

Maternity leave for men is applied in some countries, some pressure groups and parties fight for the law of maternity leave. Matthew Cheung said, "We will discuss it and tell the residents our plan next year. I really encourage companies to carry out maternity leave for men if their situation is permitted." He pointed some advantages of maternity leave for men, such as support for his wife when she has pregnancy depression. However, Hong Kong may not carry out the law of maternity leave. "Hong Kong enviroment and the law are the problem of carry out this law. For example, there are a lot of Hong Kong husbands and Mainland wives. Therefore, we have to consider the law in Hong Kong."
