Media, the powerful tool of soccer promotion

In bygone days, public did not pay much attention on soccer. However, the pendulum has swung the other way. Soccer becomes popular again after East Asian Games. Paul J Kam, chairman of ProEvents Group expressed media is of paramount importance to the soccer planning.

“Market changes, soccer planning is expensive nowadays,” Kam shared.“Money counts.” He said inviting a soccer team to Hong Kong requires one year preparation. Planning like client servicing, meal arrangement, sponsorship, and accommodation, all requires money.

“Media, certainly, is a vital influential factor in the soccer planning,” Kam said. He will not give up every opportunity to promote the soccer match through media and internet. “Ways like informing information about the entrance ticket or players’ interview are what we’re doing through media now.” With the promotion of media, Kam said more audiences are attracted to the match.

By media advertising, fans can be attracted to the match also. “Fans support the survival of soccer,” Kam explained, “they are our promotion targets also.” He said his group provides opportunity for the fans to see the soccer stars they worship.

Asked about the development of football, Kam frankly said it will be difficult. “People prefer other entertainment instead of soccer.” He believes soccer gamble and government support can revitalize soccer.
