Media has responsibility on tackle gambling

Although betting football is already legalized in Hong Kong, an official at now SPORTS channel thinks that media should take social responsibility in educating youngsters to tackle gambling information.

Lai Yu Ching, the Vice President of NOW TV Sports Channel point that NOW as a media, it would not educate youth to gamble. “I will try my best to ensure NOW SPORTS channel would not give out gambling information.”

Besides, Lai suggest media need to support the local sport development, not only concern of commercial benefit. He points that “NOW has used 30 cameras, 5 motorcycles and 5 helicopters to televise live during Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2008.” Lai hopes the media pays more attention on local sports than the oversea one.
