(If you say "is overcoming" a problem, that means the problem is in the process of being overcome, or solved but this is not really the case here. What you mean is "Lantau Island is facing misplacement...." Like most other students, you have failed to give us a comprehensive geographical information about the Lantau Island. For example, what is the total area or the size of the island as compared to the Hong Kong Island and how far is it from the HK Island? You should have a mental map in your head and explain it by putting it in words to help your readers to understand the situation. For example, Lantau Island is 85% larger than Hong Kong Island and is situated at the south west of the territory where the future Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge might bring in huge numbers of tourists. Without these information, readers might not grasp fully what you mean by a good development plan for the Lantau Island or how the development could solve the job mismatch issue in the Tung Chung area.)

--115156 2013年12月3日 (二) 18:55 (UTC) Despite location of famous tourist spots, Lantau Island is overcoming misplacement of human resources and other development problems, according to a local concern group.

Allen Ha, Chairman of Lantau Development Alliance said, although there are over 10,000 job vacancies in Lantau Island, those who fill up the positions are from people over the other parts of Hong Kong, instead of Lantau residents whom the posts are intended for.

“Such misplacement could result in a larger urban problem, such as a waste of time and traffic resources, as everyone would rather flee from home to work in places far away,” he said.

He said the aviation industry is the main victim of such scenario.

Besides, Ha mentioned that the city planning of Latau Isand could not cater the needs of locals.

He said, “The NGOs are increasingly worried about the poverty problem of the district, in which the majority of Hong Kong people has long neglected.”

Ha admitted that the residents of Tung Chung don’t have a wide range of choices to shop for commodities and daily necessities as shopping centers there, such as the Citygate Outlets are dominated by high-end goods targeted as foreign and mainland shoppers.

Also as the Chief Executive Officer of AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited, Ha expected the future development of Lantau Island could be a healthy combination of both urban development and expansion of the tourism Ex-po industry, such as building more hotels to create more employment opportunities.
