On 12th February, The Asia Television has launched legal action against the government's decision to grant three more free-to-air television licenses, claiming that they will harm its business. Global media specialist, Ho Yuet-Fung, revealed at a university assembly that it is good to have more competitors in the TV industry. (very good opening)

In the past decades, there were only two free-to-air televisions operators in Hong Kong, the Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and Asia Television Limited (ATV). The former one is the city’s dominant terrestrial operator and nearly monopolize the whole TV industry in Hong Kong.

Ho said that with the lack of competition in the market, TVB and ATV had less incentive to enhance their programs’ quality and she admitted that the programs produced were really bad.

She said, "if three more free-to-air TV license are granted [to City Telecom, Fantastic Television and Hong Kong Television Entertainment Company], TVB and ATV have to put more effort to produce better programs to attract audiences.”

"The more the players [in this field], the better." Ho concluded.

Although it is very short, this story does a good job to clearly depicting the situation, and those at stake. Including an example of good/bad tv programs would be ideal. Keep up the clear and concise writing.
