More is Better : Former Script Writer Says Competition Can Raise Program Quality

In the past decade, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) has played a dominant role in the TV broadcasting industry. Due to bankruptcy, its competitor, Asia Television Limited (ATV) seems (to have not enough power to fight back-check word order, this is not incorrect, the other is more common).

In order to break the above phenomenon, Chairman of City Telecom, Ricky Wong Wai-kay decided to join in the competition, by launching a new free-to-air TV broadcast in the coming years. He expects that it will win at least one third of TV viewers in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Ho Yuet Fung, former Managing Director of CBS Broadcast International, agrees that competition can create better TV programs for the audiences. ‘I believe that the market can support more free-to-air television.

City Telecom may have (its?) room to develop in Hong Kong,’ Ho said today at Hong Kong Shue Yan University. ‘More players are better (for? quote structure makes it look incomplete-add a word before/after better).”

She believes that competition can push script writers to be more creative and dramatic. For instance, she admires the local TV drama called (punctuation) When Heaven Burns, in which public discussion was aroused, as its focus on politics is a rare pick in TV dramas in Hong Kong.

Ho also (feels?or sees?) that the broadcasting industry in Hong Kong is now expending. ‘Not only is the population increasing, but also the market,’ she added. ‘It is because there are more and more local TV programs airing in the Mainland.’

She explained that as there is increasing number of local artist, like the famous actor Kevin Chang Ka-wing, going to film in the Mainland. She expects that the popularity of local celebrities can bring their home company to the Mainland market as well. --095137 2012年2月14日 (二) 18:27 (UTC)

Well done, simply proof read more carefully, so that the story achieves its full potential.
