MAR 20-The 2012 Hong Kong Chief Executive Election will take place on 25th March this Sunday. Although citizens have no right on voting, many have voiced their expectation of the next Chief Executive, like getting the aging problem solved. ((strong))

Lai Hing Ning, the former Secretary for Security, believes that the new Hong Kong Chief Executive should make quick move in planning population policy, aiming especially to solve the soaring aging problem. He points out that the number of elderly citizens is expected to double in the following decades, ringing an alarm to the society.

“To solve the population problem in Hong Kong, the government should get a well-planned population policy, as it is a crucial component of constructing a better society for citizens to live in,” says Lai.

Besides the worsening aging problem, there is also a climbing trend of mainland pregnant women flooding to Hong Kong to give birth who aim to get Hong Kong identity cards for the newborns.

Many Hong Kong citizens are against the law that those babies of mainlanders are lawfully right to share Hong Kong’s welfare without their parents making any contributions to the society.

Lai believes the figures will continue growing unless the government takes action.

((good work...well-written and is structured properly...nice and to the point))
