Mr. Ngai Kai Kwong, Chief Editor of Sing Pao Daily News, however, says he isn’t pessimistic at all about the future of the printed media in Hong Kong.

“I do admit that the competition among us (printed media industry) is getting more and more acute and the challenges are tougher. It isn’t a new thing since the popularity of the Internet has been kept on rising for more than 5 years.

"But right now I can’t see any risks for the printed media industry as long as the business environment is still rather healthy. The market positioning of each newspapers are clear and differentiation is significant enough for readers to choose.” Ngai said.

Ngai says based on the research that they did, he found that the total revenue of the newspapers industry didn’t decrease due to the competition with the Internet; but it increased in general.

“This is why I anticipate that in the coming 10 to 15 years, there wouldn’t be any big risks or changes for the newspapers industry. I only wish and hope our younger generation would support and more local newspapers.” Ngai said. --105125 2013年3月6日 (三) 00:23 (UTC)
