No nuclear energy for HK, (instead?)the rise of wind power )in HK)

“Our next destination will not be nuclear energy,” said Esme Lau, the public affair manager of Power Assets Holdings Limited.

The radiation leak in Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, initiated(inap) the concern about the safety of using nuclear energy. Coal is the main fuel to used to generate electricity in Hong Kong. (which would be supplied in a ratio of 7:3 to natural gases by the Power Assets Holdings Limited-edit, sounds awkward but useful information). The pollution problem caused by using coal and the insufficient amount of natural gases worries the public.

Though nuclear energy is abundant and environmentally friendly, the Power Assets Holdings Limited refuses to use nuclear energy as an alternative. “The problem is not building a nuclear power plant, though, it’s the psychological stigma caused by the earthquake in Japan, so we are not going to develop nuclear energy,” said by Esme Lau.

Then, what is the solution to the pollution problem?

Esme Lau admitted that pollution is an important issue that her company needs to face. “We are undergoing a series of tests and investigations on placing some devices in the electricity generator to minimize the release of toxic gases.” Another initiative Power Assets Holdings Limited is proposing is to build an offshore wind farm on Lamma Island.
“Our colleagues are now collecting data on available wind power, our preliminary estimate is to build 28 to 35 wind turbines,” said Esme. According to Esme, the farm (is hoped to be finished?) in 2015.

Wind power is (one of the important energy sources in recent years-vague statement), it is reversible(inap), environmentally friendly and unlimited. Many countries like the Netherlands, USA, and Germany(((…etc)))-inappropriate word & punctuation) use wind power as an alternative source of energy. --095105 2011年10月18日 (二) 20:10 (UTC)
