The current licence holders of domestic free television programme service would increase from two to five soon, City Teleom Hong Kong (CTI) is one of the applicant that the chairman Wong Wai Kay, Ricky is confident of the prospect of CTI but prepared to lose money in the business for the first few years.

CTI would start broadcasting on 1st October this year and the Asia’s biggest studio will be in construction in Tsang Kwan O on this Friday, which costs two years, Wong said.

Wong wants to change the “old environment” provided by TVB, and thinks that the workforce behind the scene should be introduced and respected by public, not only the celebrities. [What changes does he want to make?]

“I hire half of the famous directors and scriptwriters from another television station,” said Wong.

“Hong Kong audiences don’t have any choices for television dramas. They don’t engage into the drama they are watching,” Wong added.

Wong allows the directors and scriptwriters to have high degree of freedom to create but he wants them to be responded to the ratings.
