Barrie Ho Chow Lai, who awarded the Ten Outstanding Young Persona Award 2005 by the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong, and the founder and director of the Hong Kong based architects firm Barrie Ho Architecture Interiors Ltd, participated in the General Assembly organized by the Department of Journalism and Communication of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday said that the building policy in Hong Kong will not have any creative issue during design, which is a big difference comparing with Mainland China.

Barrie was graduated with a Master Degree in Architecture in University of Hong Kong, he said Hong Kong have a limited land with high population, and therefore Hong Kong have to carry out the high land price policy for long times, every building can only build up in one direction, to the top, which is a big difference when comparing with Mainland China. “China has a lot of land, all buildings can build in all directions, not only to the top, hence I can inject numerous creative issues during design, and also I can use difference material such as wood, to build up the building.” He said.

A student asked what his ideal building is. “I hope I can group music, construct, art and culture together, and that will be my ideal building.” Barrie said.
