Occupy Central could paralyze the whole city’s operation if three major cross-habour tunnels were filled with protesters, said a convenor of Voice of Silent Majority, at Shue Yan University.

Robert Chow said paralyzing Central, the heart of Hong Kong, will halt transportation. Following that, supply of food and daily necessities cannot reach supermarkets and convenience store; police, ambulance and fire fighting truck cannot reach scene of accidents to save casualties. Based on this assumption, Chow has imagined how Hong Kong will become after Occupy Central succeeds.

He emphasized that he supported to fight for democracy without upheaval. He wanted Hong Kong to continue to be peaceful. However, he questioned what true universal suffrage is in people’ mind. “We have to accept the reality,” He said. Beijing has the final authority to designate the chief executive, as stated in Basic Law. He said the main decision Hong Kong people have to make is to whether choose a person that can be nominated but rejected by Beijing or a person that can both be nominated and accepted.
