PAY RESPECT TO REPORTERS’ PROFESSION, SAYS ATV EX-DEPUTY

Sorrow revealed towards interference

By Anthony Wong

HKSYU, Oct 25-In an academic seminar, Tammy Tam, vice president of ATV having mandatory holiday, suggested media investors (input more-more of?) on News Department and not to interfere professional decisions of journalists.

ATV erroneously reported the death of Jiang Zemin, former president of China, previously. It is suspected that, Wang Zheng, consultant and major investor of ATV, and other directors has forced the mistaking(wrong part of speech-should be in adj form) coverage.

Tam was irritated by the discussing(wrong part of speech) issue on reliability of news sources in the seminar. ‘I am aware of the (reliability(lack of?)) of news sources. But somehow, we just don’t know why things went wrong,’ said Tam with sober(x).

Ricky Wong, who headed ATV for 12 days suggested reformation, (x) has put little control towards the news department of his own TV news channel, according to Lee Chi Kin, news director of bbTV (run on sentence). Tam ‘envies’ such practice(unclear sentence, who envies whom for what?).

Tam reaffirmed the importance of respect(s) to news department. ‘News quality depends on whether your boss supports you,’ said Tam. ‘Investors should put more resources (on)to the news department and should not interfere (x) its daily operation.’

(((Wang also suggested ATV (should?) to be the CNN of Asia once he started his investment. Tam, however, does not agree with this route. ‘Don’t ever think that, news department is money making,’ stressed Tam.)))(unclear, CNN=money and news should not make money?)

Your article is hard to follow, there are many contributors, however the relationship between quotes, and news angle is unclear. How have investors lacked respect for the profession?
