Public relation plays a vital role in all corporations. Public relations professionals act like a “bridge” between the company and the general public. Ms Esme Lau, the Public Affairs Manager of Power Assets Holdings Ltd. emphasized the importance of PR in representing a company’s image.""


PR professionals are responsible for communicating with different stakeholders, building and maintaining customer relationships, delivering messages to the public and press. She emphasized the importance of crisis management. When crises occur, PR agencies will formulate contingency plans to resolve the crisis as soon as possible.“A successful PR professional should be able to turn threats into opportunities,” said Lau. Lau advised that being a PR professionals should develop 5 senses and stay alert, as well as get prepared anytime.


(((Crisis management is also important part in public relation, especially in politics area. However, some public figures are failed to manage. The chief executive candidate, Henry Tang admitted to have extramarital romances through a public relations agency. Professor Leung Tin Wai, the Department Head of Journalism and Communication expressed his views towards Tang and thought he had no political sense and was not capable enough to become the next chief executive of Hong Kong.))))
