PR does not have a fixed formula

Many companies have their Public Relations Department to help them to maintain good reputation and image. Some people may deem PR as an easy job. However, Esme Lau, a Public Affairs Manager (Media & Community) of Power Assets Holdings Limited, stressed that PR is full of challenges.

Learning during the process

Esme Lau stressed that all the team members of PR Department need to learn during the process of handling different special cases. “There is no fixed formula for being a good PR. Thus, all of us tend to be more careful to handle various crises. Although it is challenging, it is really exciting and attractive,” Esme Lau added. As being a Public Affairs Manager gives her many chances to keep in touch with different kind of people, it widens her horizons.

Working hard especially in the beginning

In the beginning first five years of working, Esme Lau encourages young people to work harder in order to gain valuable working experiences. “Don’t try to think the way to make your life better during the beginning of your job. You better enjoy your work in earnest. Then, you will feel the joy of being a PR, no matter how busy you are,” Esme Lau continued. Since the methods of handling crises and the ways of organizing events are having so many options to choose, Esme Lau reaffirmed that PR does not have a fixed formula.
