“People think that the public relations assistants always tell lies. However, we never do this!” said Esme Lau, the Public Affairs Manager of Power Assets Holdings Ltd., during her speech to the general assembly of Shue Yan University on Tuesday.

Lau has been a journalist for four years before she entered the public relations industry. She believes that it is good for her to communicate with the press as she clearly knows what they need. “The journalists would not accept any lies or delays. I would try my best to satisfy them if I am able to.”

When crises happen, Lau stated that PR would answer the calls from the public and press depending on the nature of the incidents. Although there may be delay, a good PR would not tell lies since it is useless for solving the problems.
