Jonathan Mak Long has confessed that the Apple tribute to Apple genius Steve Jobs is not original. “Mak had an outstanding reply to the media because of his integrity,” Lam Chiu Wing, who is a Hong Kong movie script-writer, said at a university general assembly today.

Jonathan Mak Long, 19, designed a silhouette of Steve Jobs as the “bite” in the Apple logo as an internet tribute and posted it on internet. 180,000 fans were attracted by the tribute in the following days. After three days, Mak admitted that the logo was not original and was made by a U.K. based designer, called Raid71, who presented the original logo on the internet in May.

“Nowadays, the information on the internet is not all true and we should be very careful when we use that information,” Lam said.

He said that PR students have to learn from Mak because of his honesty. “Mak told us that he has searched the logo on the internet and referred to the U.K. designer. Although Jonathan’s logo is not the first one to come up the logo, he is not a copycat because he told us the truth,” he explained.
