PR is an easy job!

Nowadays, the position of public relations rises among cooperation. PR practitioners help their bosses to build up good image and loyalty, communicate with media, crisis management, etc. Being a successful PR, Esme Lau who is the Public Affairs Manager (Media & Community) of Power Assets Holdings Ltd, gave a speech in the Hong Kong Shue Yan University Yesterday. She advised people who would like to enter this career be realistic that this is not an easy job. She needs to work 12 to 15 hours per day. Consequently, she loves her job as challenges always happen and make her life fruitful.

Support Herny as always

Herny Tang, who is the former Chief Secretary of Administration of HKSAR, Recently, admitted that he had an extramarital affair which violates. As it is wide-spreading that he is going to be a candidate in the Hong Kong Chief Executive election of 2012, this incident raises public concerns about his honesty and loyalty. To Esme, the issue is past and she is satisfied with his explanation. She claimed that this incident would not change her perception of his image. However, Leung Tin Wai, the Professor and Head of HKSYU Journalism and Communication, thought that Herny Tang did not even have wisdom to deal with his love affairs as well as political decisions. Professor Leung said that Herny Tang was not qualified enough to be a Chief Executive. His speech drew prolonged applause.


Good preparation'

A good PR would never stop working since they are alert and get prepared to fight at anytime. Esma suggested that PR must be good at observation and always keep their eyes on the trend and current issues. Writing and reading is undoubtedly important to PR. She spends most of her time on writing and stated PR beginners should be good in English otherwise, they are difficult to live in this profession. In addition, creativity, hard-working, self motivated, patience and curious to the surrounding are the essential criteria for PR.
