With dozens of video sharing platforms online, people now easily find the programs they wanted to view on Youtube or mainland video platforms, like Youku. However, senior TV producer in Now Mango, Ho Lai Chuen claimed that such action intervenes intellectual property.

The programs made by mainland’s TV have gained popularity in recent years. Ho said that their popularity is due to the way of production of TV producers. He said, “Mainland programmers will make a program interesting, and let the artist to speak out themselves,” he continued, “not like those in Hong Kong, who tends to make the scandals more serious and to make noise, but not letting the artist to voice out.”

Therefore people preferred to search for mainland programs. However, Ho said to view the programs on Youtube intervene intellectual property. And so, he suggested people to pay $18 per month to subscribe to Now Mango.

He said, “As TV producers, we choose the best TV programs from mainland, and then broadcast to the audiences through Now Mango,” He claimed that TV programs are chosen according to the hit topic of the time, hit people and they fit in the culture in Hong Kong.

He stressed, “As all of us know, the creativity process is a difficult process. So why not pay $18 per month and support the creativity of others, so they will continue on producing interesting and funny TV programs for us all?”
