No matter what kind of results the poll reflected, people should respect every scientific poll , Lau Ming-wai who was the Vice Chairman of Bauhinia Foundation Research Center said yesterday in a digital media seminar.

Many people have criticized the Public Opinion Programs of the University of Hong Kong saying they were not objective enough. Recently, Lee Ka Kit, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Committee complained to Zhang Deijing, the Chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) about the unscientific results of the HKU's Public Opinion Poll during the 12th NPC second annual session. Lee unsatisfied that HKU will publish poll, which were all unfavorable for the governance in Hong Kong, at every key moment.

In response to Lee's comment, Lau Ming-wai believed that every poll had its own significant meaning. He thought that no matter what kind of results the poll reflected, people should respect it if the poll was done under scientific basis. And he emphasized that Bauhinia Foundation Research Center will not conduct any public opinion program in the future because of the shortage of resources.

Moreover, Lau said that the government should set a vision for the population policy as there needs to be an economic and social vision of Hong Kong many decades from now. It was difficult for the government to plan for the future without a clear vision, added by Lau.
