The Chief Executive Election of HKSAR will be held this Sunday. A forum was held this Monday for the (electors-check meaning of electors, these are candidates), Henry Tang, CY Leung and Albert Ho. Conflicts between the three electors are tense. Leung was (being-omit) suspected (to-change to "of + draw-present progressive) on riot police and tear gas (to squelching-infinitive) protestors in turmoil.

Peter, Lai Hing-ling the former Secretary for Security came to Shue Yan University and said that it is common and makes sense to send out riot police when facing intense demonstration(plural). However, he claimed that it is not a effective method when facing (indef article) intense situation.

He explained that riot police is also a part of Police Tactical Unit(PTU), they are always patrolling on streets.

He continued that sending out PTU is decided by the law enforcement department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. “The (related?) person would predict the seriousness of the protest and make appropriate decisions,” said Lai.

Good work Emily, I made notes of your corrections, in this case, the quote about intense situation is ambiguous, what is the diff between that and an intense demonstration?
