The Chief Executive candidate CY Leung was accused that he had suggested dispatching riot police repression of demonstrators involved in 2003 July march. The former Secretary for Security, Mr Peter Lai, declined to comment on the incident at Shue Yan University yesterday.

Peter is teaching at Hong Kong University now. As a professor, he said he would only guide the way how students thought, but would not give his own opinion. In 2003, he stayed abroad, he did not know what actually happened in society, so he would not comment on recent incident. ((don't refer to him by his first name))

He explained that riot police were those we knew as the PTU, if the government really sent the PTU to maintain the order, citizens did not need to panic.

He said, “the government has clear guidelines that if there is any disorder in society, police will use suitable force to maintain the order and safety of society.”

He only insisted that the time when he was the Secretary for Security, he had never thought to use People's Liberation Army to keep the peace.

((pretty good job here...one of your stronger and more consistent jobs))
