Digital media is booming in these days and some may say that

the digital version will replace printed one. Mabel Leung,

managing Director, MRRM Publishing Limited, “ The printed

version is worth to exist. I hope digital will not replace

the printed one,” said at general assembly in Hong Kong Shue

Yan University.

Leung said that the printing media has potential to develop

since many readers still like the printed version. She used

Style.com as an example which is a online fashion magazine to

publish in printed version to prove that the digital media may

not be replaced the printed media.

Leung now running a boutique publishing house of 3 magazines,

MR, MR Style, she said that the main revenue is from advertisement.”

To produce a exquisite magazine needs high cost, Once we sell one,

we will lose money in business.” Leung said.

In order to attract advertisers to advertise in the magazine, Leung

thinks that the most important thing is to have a qualitative content

and target a right selling group. She use MR as an example that since

they target affluent and high spending power, so it attracts the

advertisers who sells luxury, such as watches, cars and high-end

fashion.

Although Leung established her own magazines during SARS in 2003,

she earned profit because of the successful strategies. She said

that it never loses money in her business.

Many magazines concerns social media platform, Leung also does.

She said that the online version would updated the daily latest

information instead of the printed one which publishes once a month,

“ It can improve the limitation that monthly magazines have, ”

Leung added.
