Proverb Helps Communication

Traditionally proverb should not be used by the media, but Mr. Pang Chi-ming, a popular columnist of Apple Daily and AM730, proposed that the proverb have their values in news reporting on the seminar of Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday.

“Proverb helps the communication between the reporter and the readers.” said by Pang. He explained that newspapers should express the news more clearly by using proverbs, “Newspapers should use proverb in order to present clear news to the readers, and it should not be suppress.” ”The newspaper is reporting the true, but not literature, it needs not to use the gorgeous words.” he said.

Pang opposed the news-filtration of the proverb. He explained that the proverb was important to the presentation of the article, ”It seems that there are a decay on the words when the proverb were filtrated, it affects the meaning of the words.”

“Proverb can help to unite our consensus because it is easy to get the meaning.” said by him. Pang used a lot of examples to support his view during the seminar and he pointed out another importance of the proverb, ” With the use of the proverb, it rises the cohesion of people.”
