Former Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying has been pursuing and attacking the advertisement of Apple Daily in facebook. A senior advertiser said he does not want people to link politics with advertising.


Ralph Szeto Kwong-chiu is one of the founders of a digital and social media communications consulting group called CMRS Group based in Hong Kong. He said that he does not want people to infiltrate politics or other things into advertising. “Advertisers have no political position, and advertising will not be affected by the fact that the other party is left or right,” said Szeto, “What they value is how to bring the advertisers to the benefits.”


Szeto mentioned that advertisers who choose to advertise in that media are also affected by many factors, such as the willingness of the relevant brands. However, they will look at each media from a professional perspective, said Szeto.


He gave an example said that the Hong Kong Interactive Market Chamber of Commerce often support the competition organized by Next Digital Ltd.


Szeto said that Hong Kong does not currently have an advertising law like the United Kingdom and other countries, nor does it start to regulate Facebook as other countries. “The advertising industry faces less constraints,” said Szeto.


Szeto also said the high degree of freedom Hong Kong has is extremely important and Hong Kong people must cherish it.
