Ray Chung, the founder of OpenRice.com, said that examining the food reviews is the essential part of OpenRice.

"We need to avoid the fake reviews," Ray Chung said, on Tuesday at a university assembly. He noted that all the food reviews submitted by registered diners, will be double-examined by computer approval and human approval. Chung pointed out some restaurants have asked them the reason of not posting their customers' food reviews. He said those food reviews are usually fake reviews, and those restaurants normally should not know their customers have submitted reviews.

Some restaurants complained they received many bad comments after rejecting to place advertisement on OpenRice. Chung said examining the food reviews spend lots of time, on replying registered diners the reason of deleting their reviews. Therefore, OpenRice has no extra time to write bad comments for revenge. He pointed out citizens should have their own critical thinking ability, to determine which food reviews are credible.

OpenRice.com is a restaurant and food guide website, which was initially launched in Hong Kong by Ray Chung in 1999. The website has started operating in China, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, India, and the Philippines. Currently, the Hong Kong website has approximately 44,000 recorded restaurants, 676,000 food reviews and over 800,000 registered diners.--115035 2014年3月25日 (二) 18:00 (UTC)
