Raymond Wong, the chairperson of the Communications Authority Broadcast Codes of Practice Committee, said that there would not be any vicious competition between TV companies in Hong Kong. He stated that every company would have their own responsibility to produce different programmes in order to attract audiences.

Wong attended a talk from Hong Kong Shue Yan University this afternoon. Based on the controversial topic that involved the free TV licenses in these days, he responded, “I have never heard of anything called ‘benign competition’, unless you live in your own world or you live in fantasy.”

In the current situation in Hong Kong, Wong stated the norm that if a TV station produce program that cannot attracted to audiences, audiences would not keep watching that particular station. And if one station kept on gaining but the other one kept on having deficit, the latter one could not blame on the stronger station because of its bad management.
