Responsibility of public relation

“Honesty is the best policy for crisis,” said Frankie Yip. He pointed that, to overcome crises, the Public Relation should honesty tell the truth to the public.

Frankie Yip, Public Affairs Manager (External Relations) of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, said “When the first lie is told, more lies are coming”. He used the photos of Edison Chan as an example. “If he still tells lie under this worse situation, the incident would turns worse.” Tell truth to the public may turn the crisis become an opportunity.

Besides, the skill to handle crisis is also knowledge. Yip believed that to tackle crisis the Public Relation should understand the situation clearly. It can help us to give the crisis a “value” and can show if the crisis is worth to be occurred. Yip concluded that “the most difficult process is to learn a lesson in the crisis.” It can avoid the same mistake in the future.
