(Ricky Wong of HKTV is hot news these days so when he gave a speech in the GA meeting, reporters came and covered the event. Here are some excerpts of what the media has reported:

Apple Daily - - Fate of HKTV to be decided in 6 months.

Ming Pao - - Wong threatens to reveal a confidential report in "a creative yet legally bound way" to challenge the government within a few days.

Oriental Daily News and The Sun- - Ricky Wong claims there is huge discrepancy between what the government reveals and what the confidential report says. And Tam Yiu Chung of the DAB party has urged Wong, on three occasions in three days, to consider acquiring ATV as an alternative. Since Tam is considered a Beijing surrogate in HK, the suggestion therefore could be viewed as evidence that Beijing has not held any grudge against Wong, thus not the reason for Wong's failure to obtain a license.

Other reports touch on issues like: Ricky Wong criticizes as unfair that the government is free to release selected sections of the confidential report to the public to attack and ridicule him while he is gagged by law and rendered defenseless.

My dear classmates, since our assignments and theirs are basically the same, we could therefore compare the media stories with ours to see if we are up to par with others. If our reports miss or lack what the others have, we should ask ourselves why and see if we could do better the next time.

Your lead uses expression that I consider odd. "....didn't step into the incident of issuing..." could be simply put as "didn't interfere with the matter of". To be precise, Wong actually quoted Rita Fan, the standing committee member of the National People's Congress of the PRC, as saying that she heard nothing about the TV license issue in Beijing. And you should also use the Tam Yiu Chung story to give strength to the notion that Beijing has had no part in the issue.)

China didn't step into the incident of issuing broadcasting new free-TV license, said Wong Wai Kay, the chairman of HKTV.

" I am 99% confident that China didn't affect the result of issuing TV license.", said Wong. He said the only one who affect the incident is Hong Kong government. He noted today's China is open-minded and not always control Hong Kong's issue as people think. He heard about no one had commented about the issue of free-TV license in mainland. Wong commented that Hong Kong government changed the rules of application but not allow the candidates to revise their own application. He added this is barbaric and horrible. Wong claimed that the exco members do not know about business issues and questioned that why they are qualified enough to judge the environment of TV industry will be saturated.

" I am not the worst in financial sustainability among the three applicants" said Wong. He defensed himself that he owns 2 billions in his pocket. He doesn't see that i-Cable and PCCW have good financial sustainability as they have been facing deficits in these recent years.

Wong to release a statement in order to reply government's answer about the license. He said he may release something about the government's distortion of the facts of licensing issue.

" I have considered to buy TVB before.", said Wong. He added, however, he gave up this idea very soon as he thought that it is hard to reform this kind of big and well-developed company. Also, he said that he did not have any idea or plan to buy ATV at that moment. However, he admitted that he owns some plans for his business. --115089 2013年11月5日 (二) 18:12 (UTC)
