(Ricky Wong of HKTV is hot news these days so when he gave a speech in the GA meeting, reporters came and covered the event. Here are some excerpts of what the media has reported:

Apple Daily - - Fate of HKTV to be decided in 6 months.

Ming Pao - - Wong threatens to reveal a confidential report in "a creative yet legally bound way" to challenge the government within a few days.

Oriental Daily News and The Sun- - Ricky Wong claims there is huge discrepancy between what the government reveals and what the confidential report says. And Tam Yiu Chung of the DAB party has urged Wong, on three occasions in three days, to consider acquiring ATV as an alternative. Since Tam is considered a Beijing surrogate in HK, the suggestion therefore could be viewed as evidence that Beijing has not held any grudge against Wong, thus not the reason for Wong's failure to obtain a license.

Other reports touch on issues like: Ricky Wong criticizes the government for being unfair as it is free to release selected sections of the confidential report to publicly attack and ridicule him while he is gagged by law and rendered defenseless.

My dear classmates, since our assignments and theirs are basically the same, we could therefore compare the media stories with ours to see if we are up to par with others. If our reports miss or lack what the others have, we should ask ourselves why and see if we could do better the next time.

You title has a point which is well qualified for the theme of your story however your lead mentions nothing of it. You quoted Wong as saying there is room for improvement in challenging the government's advertisement revenue assessment but you failed to tell us how he can do it. As we know, one million viewership is not easy to be outdone.)

The Executive Council Secretariat has issued a six-page statement to further explain why Hong Kong Television Network Limited (HKTVN) has been rejected for TV license. Chairman of HKTVN has responded that he was disagreed with some views on the statement, like advertising market cannot be expanded since everyone’s time to watch TV is limited.

“The best shows with highest reception rate in Hong Kong has about one million people only,” he responded, “ and there is room for improvement.”

He said in Shue Yan University yesterday that HKTVN would not get the license within these few months, even if there are twenty thousand people protest outside Legislative Council today to urge for acting with the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Ordinance.(P&P)

“We want to overt classified information, but if it can’t be revealed due to confidential agreement of the Executive Council and trade secrets, it is useless to use that (the ordinance).” He said.

He claimed that he has some information and written reports about how government’s decision is unreasonable, and he may reveal this in a “creative way”, without infringing the law and violating moral standards.

Being asked about whether their plans for the next months, he said that they would continue some projects in progress, and may even close down the company after several months. He reinstated that he has not consider purchasing Asia Television Limited (ATV) at the time, and would not broadcast their show on the Internet.

“There are too many competitors on the Internet, like drama series from South Korea and Japan, and we may not be able to compete with them.” He thought.
