As readers turn to digital news sources and newsrooms focus more on online production, social media is becoming just as important, said Chris C. Anderson, senior editor at Huffington Post.

Anderon said that readers’ habit have changed nowadays. He claimed that he gets his news from his Macbook, iPhone and his personal iPad, but not the printed media. He believed that technology brings a new source of news story. “Technology is a huge part of what we do.” He said technology is an innovative way to create a new generation of media.

He also believed that social media is a big part of the trend. He cited Twitter as an example. The easy share button for Twitter appears on many websites that encourages people to tweet and makes distributing information smooth and quick.

Anderson encourages journalism student to be more reliable to be competitive in the job market. He said meeting deadlines shows responsibility and helps with getting good recommendations from professors, an important factor for potential employers. He also encouraged students to ask more questions to learn more. He believed that students should be more creative and not hesitate to try something different.
